Williamsburg Queen Anne Mirror
The flamboyant Queen Anne gilded looking glass demonstrates late Baroque, English styling from around 1720-40. Found in Wetherburn's Tavern at Colonial Williamsburg, the raised head of a woman, the gessoed repouss decoration and crests with rosettes serve as a testament to the carver's skill. Looking glasses with sconce arms holding candles were used as a way to amplify reflected light in times before electricity. CARVERS' GUILD licensee to COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG.
